| The
founders of
HKexotics
grew up farmers and workers with animals. In 1995,
they started catching nuisance cattle that could not be
caught by their owners. In 1996, they started hauling
domestic livestock. Since then, the reality is the
growing houses has been more profitable than growing cattle,
thus, farmlands have turned into neighborhoods, and business
in livestock transportation has slowed down accordingly.
So, they got into hauling larger, more difficult animals.
The one
good thing that has come from four (4) hurricane evacuations
is the knowledge and understanding of not only transporting,
but also caring for exotic animals. We have the
equipment necessary to transport many animals at time, even
a whole zoo!
Hank
Koehler, owner of
HKexotics,
wishes to give a special thanks to Patti Hall, Cyndi
Johnson, and Rusty Gilbert of the Alabama Gulf
Coast Zoo (aka, Animal Planet's "The Little Zoo that
Could."), for "teaching us how to swim during a hurricane."
After assisting in moving a total zoo in less than 48-hours
four different times, "it now takes alot to keep me
entertained." Says Hank. |
